Sofia Day – the capital’s city holiday

Since 1992, 17 September has been Sofia's official city day, on the Orthodox feast of Saints Sophia, Faith, Hope and Love. The city flag is usually raised outside St. Sofia Church, and in past years there have been free concerts and free museum entry. Many Bulgarians named Sofia, Vera, Nadezhda or Lyubov also celebrate their name day.
