What to expect

Every 1 January, Razlog's masked mummers, known locally as chaushi, gather from dawn and fill the central square with bells, whips and dancing to drive away evil and welcome the year. The day ends with a big communal horo. It is a short drive from Bansko and one of the most striking winter traditions in the Pirin region.
